A straightforward synthesis of tetrahydro-2-benzyl-3-(1-benzyloxyethyl)-furo[2,3-d]isoxazol-5(2H)ones is reported, based on the Lewis acid-catalysed addition of 2-trimethylsilyloxyfuran to the N-benzyl nitrone of (S)-lactaldehyde.
