strap on the calix[4]pyrrole moiety not being able to attain its
most favorable cone conformation toward the anion. Therefore,
a slightly longer strap may make the host more effective toward
the anion, and at present, efforts are underway in this direction.
Further, for the first time we demonstrate that incorporation of
substituents at the aromatic unit of the strap can also help
modulate the anion affinity without compromising the guest
selectivity.
