4.3.17. Synthesis of 1-methyl-ꢀE)-2-[2-ꢀuracil-5-yl)vinyl]-

magnetically stirred solution of compound 25 *100 mg,
0.24 mmol) in dry acetonitrile *7 mL) under an argon
atmosphere were added anhydrous sodium iodide
*108 mg, 0.72 mmol) and trimethylchlorosilane *80 mg,
0.72 mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred at rt for
24 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure
and the residue was washed with a few drops of aqueous
sodium metabisul®te solution and then with cold water,
®ltered and dried to yield compound 35 as light yellow
powder solid *65 mg; 70%); mp.2008C; IR: nmax *KBr)
