The complex [P(2-py)₃W(CO)(NO)₂](BF₄)₂ (1) is an excellent catalyst precursor for Diels-Alder reactions of 1,3-diene and α,β-unsaturated ketones and/or aldehydes with a catalyst loading as low as 0.3 mol%.
