ISOPONGACHROMENE, A CHROMENOFLAVONE FROM PONGAMIA GLABRA SEEDS

Isopongachromene, a new chromenoflavone together with karanjin, pongamol, pongapin, kanjone and pongaglabrone were isolated from the ethanolic extract of the seed oil of Pongamia glabra.The structure of isopongachromene has been established as 6-methoxy-6'',6''-dimethyl-3',4'-methylenedioxychromeno(7,8,2'',3'')flavone on the basis of spectral evidence and confirmed by synthesis.
