The behaviour of dimethyl cis- and trans-4,5-epoxy-cis-1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylate towards pig liver esterase (PLE) was studied. (1R,2S,4S,5S)-4-Hydroxy-7-oxo-6-oxobicyclo<3.2.1>octane-2-carboxylic acid was formed.
