A new class of oxotechnetium(5+) chelate complexes containing a TcON2S2 core

The benzoyl-protected dimercaptodiamides (PhCOS(CH₂)_nCONH)₂X (n = 1, X = (CH₂)₂, (CH₂)₃, and o-C₆H₄; n = 2, X = (CH₂)₂ and (CH₂)₃) have been synthesized. From these, via the sodium dithionite reduction of TcO₄^- in base, the technetium complexes [TcO(S(CH₂)_nCONXNCO(CH₂)_nS)] ^- (n = 1, X = (CH₂)₂, (CH₂)₃, and o-C₆H₄; n = 2, X = (CH₂)₂) have been prepared. The synthesis and characterization of the complexes, and their precursors, are presented, and the radiopharmaceutical applicability is discussed.
