The thermal (120 deg C) and catalytic (SnCl4, BF3, and AlCl3) ene addition reactions of butyl N-(p-tolylsulphonyl)iminoacetate with alkenes give adducts which are readily convertible into γδ-unsaturated α-amino-acids.
