An efficient asymmetric synthesis of 3',4'-di-O-(-)-camphanoyl-(+)-cis-khellactone (DCK) (1) via catalytic asymmetric dihydroxylation is reported. Among seven commercial ligands investigated, (DHQ)2-PYR is the most enantioselective ligand for the catalytic asymmetric dihydroxylation of seselin (5), a synthetic intermediate of DCK, and affords up to 86% e.e.
