Thermal reactions of the titled compounds showed multiple mode of reactivities and gave variety of products by difference of the number and positions of phenyl groups.Those facts were interpreted in terms of the reaction paths controlled by degree of intramolecular steric interferences of phenyl groups in the dimethylsulfonium 1-aroyl-6-oxo-2,4-hexadienylide system.
