The reaction of 2,4,6-triethoxycarbonyl-1,3,5-triazine with arylhydrazines proceeds with rearrangement and leads to the formation of 2-ethoxycarbonyl-4-aryl-hydrazino-5-oxoimidazoles.The factors that limit the possibility of the occurrence of the reaction are examined from the point of view of the postulated mechanism.
