The synthesis and characterizations of 2-bromoporphin, 5-bromoporphin, 5,15-dibromoporphin and 5,10,15-tribromoporphin are described.Yields of the bromoporphins obtained with a variety of brominating agents are reported.Spectral properties were measured and, along with chemical properties, are presented as evidence for a preferred delocalization pathway in porphin.
