Synthesis and Structures of Distibene (RSb=SbR) and Bridging Stibinidene (RSb) Iron Complexes

The reaction of (Me3Si)2CHSbCl2 (4) with Na2 affords a mixture of the distibene complex, 2<(Me3Si)2CH>2Sb2)(CO)4> (5), and the closed stibinidene complex, (CO)8> (6).The structures of 4, 5, and 6 were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods.Compound 4 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2₁/n with a=7.021(3) Angstroem, b=17.129(10) Angstroem, c=12.490(4) Angstroem, and β=99.64(3) deg.Compound 5 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2₁/n with a=19.958(4) Angstroem, b=6.635(1) Angstroem, c=24.408(6) Angstroem, and β=103.51(2) deg.Compound 6 crystallizes in the tri clinic space group P<*> with a=7.065(5) Angstroem, b=9.179(2) Angstroem, c=19.814(7) Angstroem, α=86.86(3) deg, β=85.23(5) deg, γ=70.04(4) deg.The reaction of 5 with Fe2(CO)9 produces 6, an unstable compound, 14, believed to be the open isomer of 6, and an iron-antimony cluster, <3<(Me3Si)2CHSb>2>, (15).
