The Cannizzaro reaction in heterogeneous phase (solid-liquid), catalyzed by baryum hydroxide catalyst under ultrasonic conditions is reported.The process takes place by single electron transfer by means of reducing sites of the solid.It is proved by selective poisoning experiments.
