filtrate was evaporated to dryness. Liquid compounds were purified by
distillation and solid compounds were either purified or separated by
column chromatography to afford the desired aromatic ether. Yields, re-
action times, and products are given in Table II. Selected spectroscopic
data are given in Table IV.
