Decarboxylation of various carboxylic acids, including α-, β- and γ-amino acids, is performed by the photolysis of their benzophenone oxime esters in isopropanol in the presence of t-butyl mercaptane, and corresponding decarboxylated products are obtained in good yields under mild photolytic conditions.
