a cascade amination/Heck reaction of alkenyl bromides with
amino-o-bromopyridines. The cascade approach proved to be
successful when readily available primary aminopyridines were
used. Lastly, several alkenyl bromides were employed, allowing
access to various substituted azaindoles. Therefore, this route
constitutes a novel platform for ready access to the indole
bioisostere core, an important scaffold in medicinal chemistry
and material science.
