1,1-Diborylalkanes, prepared through hydroboration of 1-alkynes using BH₃:N(C₂H₅)₂Ph complex, on reaction with Grignard reagent followed by I₂/NaOH treatment and H₂O₂/OH^- oxidation give the corresponding mixed alkyl secondary alcohols.
