Reaction of <(tmeda)-cycloMe2>, (1), (tmeda = tetramethylethylenediamine) with <(η-C5H5)2ZrCl2> in tetrahydrofuran at - 78 deg C yields <(η-C5H5)2Zr(CH2PMe2)nCl_2-n>, n = 1, (2), or n = 2, (3); carbonylation of (2) affords exclusively a novel binuclear ketene complex, , (4), which in the crystal form possesses a Zr-P linkage <2.724(5) Angstroem>.
