A series of octahedral Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes has been synthesized with ONO donor Schiff base ligand (L) derived from the reaction of 8-formyl-7-hydroxy-4-methyl coumarin and N-(4-phenylthiazol-2-yl)hydrazinecarboxamide. The chemical structures of the compounds were elucidated by elemental analysis and various physico-chemical techniques. Thermal analyses studies indicates the presence of coordinated water molecules in Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes. The compounds were screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities by MICs method and DNA cleavage activity by AGE method. Also, brine shrimp bioassay was also carried out to study the in vitro cytotoxic properties, the compounds reveals the significant activity.
