Various 2-substituted 2,3-dihydro-1H-benzisoquinolin-1-ones were obtained in high yields by chemoselective reduction of 2-substituted 1H-benzisoquinoline-1,3(2H)-diones with sodium or zinc borohydride at room temperature.
