Aplysidine, a new nucleoside from the Okinawan marine sponge Aplysina Sp.

A new nucleoside, aplysidine (1), has been isolated from the Okinawan marine sponge Aplysina sp. and the structure elucidated by spectroscopic data and confirmed by synthesis of 1. Synthetically known 2′,3′-didehydro-2′,3′-dideoxyuridine (2) has also been isolated from the same sponge for the first time as a natural product.
