Oxidative transformations of phenylacetylene in a Ph3MF2 (M = Bi, Sb)-CuCl system

The composition of products of the reaction of phenylacetylene with Ph₃BiF₂ and Ph₃SbF₂ in the presence of CuCl is considerably affected by the amount of the promoter. When the molar ratio phenylacetylene : CuCl is 1 : 1, the major product is diphenylacetylene; a decrease in amount of CuCl to 10 mol. % results in an increase in the yield of tolan to 60%.
