Electronic spectra of some substituted arylazopyrazolones have been calculated by means of semi-empirical MO methods: Pariser-Parr-Pople and Hueckel-ω. The results of computation have been compared with experimental data obtained by UV spectroscopy in n-heptane, chloroform and acetonitrile. A particular structure could be assigned to 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-(o-nitrophenylhydrazo)-pyrazolin-5-one.
