Compounds with the syn-bis-diazene structural unit containing two cis-diazene groups in almost parallel orientation to each other may act as matrices for the stabilisation of pentametallic aggregates.The synthesis and structure of (μ₅-η⁴-C11H16N4)Fe5(CO)13 (2) in which an Fe5(CO)13 entity is bound to a syn-bis-diazene ligand is reported.
