In this work, we also have examined the thermal stability of 2-TzaH
and its complexes. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermo-
gravimetric analysis (TGA) [27] showed that free ligand 2-TzaH
undergoes decomposition immediately after melting (179 °C) with
one exothermal peak at 269 °C (Fig. 3). Decomposition of copper
complex 1 proceeds in one main step with exothermal peak at 230 °C

20] Solution of 2-TzaH (0.128 g, 0.001 mol) in 10 ml of water was added to a solution
of palladium(II) chloride dihydrate (0.107 g, 0.0005 mol) in 15 ml of 1%
hydrochloric acid. The resulting solution was allowed to stand for few days and
thereafter yellow crystals of 2 were formed. Yield: 0.110 g, 47%. Anal. Calc. for

Fig. 4). The TGA curve of 2 revealed that weight loss (∼8%) occurred at
0–140 °C, corresponding to the removal of two molecules of water per

21] Solution of 2-TzaH (0.128 g, 0.001 mol) and potassium tetrachloroplatinate
(0.207 g, 0.0005 mol) in 15 ml of water was stirred for 24 h at room temperature.
The precipitating light yellow solid of 3 was filtered off, washed with cold water
and recrystallized from acetonitrile solution. Yield: 0.094 g, 36%. Anal. Calc. for

refined on F by full matrix least squares SHELXL 97 [29]. Hydrogen atom
positions in 1 were calculated geometrically and refined using riding model, with

iso =1.2Ueq(C). In 2, hydrogen atoms of water molecules were located from
difference map and refined with O-H distance restraint of 0.83(2)Å and H...H
restraint of 1.38(2)Å, with iso(H)=1.5Ueq(O). Remaining atoms of
were placed in calculated positions and refined using riding model, with
Uiso(H)=1.2Ueq(C) and iso(H)=1.5Ueq(O). Crystallographic data for 1:
