Sonolysis studies of alcohol-water mixtures were carried out for CH3OH, C2H5OH, n-C3H7OH, and i-C3H7OH by analyzing the gaseous products of CH4, C2H6, C2H4, C2H2, and C3H6.By comparing the product distributions which depended on the four alcohol-water mixtures it was found that alcohols decay in a similar manner as in the pyrolysis of alcohols at high temperatures and that sonolysis progresses through radical reactions.
