trans-Cycloheptene was prepared at -78 deg C by a singlet-sensitized photoisomerization of the cis-isomer, and its lifetime was measured at temperatures between -7.0 and +1.0 deg C to give thermodynamic parameters for the thermal trans-cis isomerization: Ea = 18.7 kcal mol-1, log A = 12.2.
