Stereoselective alkylation of (R)-<(ε⁵-C5H5)Fe(CO)(PPh3)COCH2CH3> with bromomethyl-t-butyl sulphide, followed by oxidative decomplexation in the presence of L-proline t-butyl ester gave, after deprotection, (-)-Captopril enantiomerically and diastereomerically pure in an overall yield of 59percent.
