Disproportionation of LaNi5 and TiFe in 4 MPa H2 at 300°C

The disproportionation of LaNi₅ and TiFe under 4 MPa H₂ at 300°C was investigated. It was found that under this condition LaNi₅ reacted with hydrogen disproportionally at a noticeable rate, while TiFe remained stable owing to the lower mobility of its lattice atoms. The disproportionation reactions are discussed in relation to the intrinsic cycling degradations of LaNi₅ and TiFe.
