Nickel was electrodeposited on copper substrates from sulfamate-sulfite, sulfamate, chloride, and chloride-sulfate electrolytes. The crystalline orientation was determined by x-ray diffraction, the magnetic orientation by Moessbauer spectroscopy of Co-57-doped deposits, and the stress by electrode deflection. The stress level was correlated with the relative intensity of the lines in the Moessbauer emission pattern in the case of deposits with a (100) preferred orientation. 12 refs.
