Unsymmetrical platinum(II) complexes with diphosphine ligands

In this study, unsymmetrical dipositive platinum(II) complexes of the general formula [Pt(L-L)(L′-L′)]Br₂, where L-L and L′-L′ = dppm (Ph₂PCH₂PPh₂), dppe (Ph₂P(CH₂)₂PPh₂) or dppp (Ph₂P(CH₂)₃PPh₂) have been synthesized and characterized by ³¹P{¹H} NMR, IR, UV-Vis, elemental analyses and conductance data. Chlorine analogs of these complexes have also been prepared in the NMR tube and their ³¹P(¹H) NMR spectra were recorded. In a similar manner, [PtBr₂(dcpe)] (dcpe = Cy₂P(CH₂)₂PCy₂; Cy = cyclohexyl (C₆H₁₁)) has been treated with dppm and dppe to form [Pt(dcpe)(dppm)]Br₂ and [Pt(dcpe)(dppe)]Br₂, respectively.
