In this study, new GC-MS method has been developed to
provide a sensitive, simple and quantitative assay of prilocaine
HCl in pure and pharmaceutical preparations. When the solu-
tions of prilocaine HCl were stored at room temperature and
on auto sampler during 72 h, it was observed that o-toluidine
was formed. o-Toluidine was determined by proposed method.
The preparation of samples and their analysis was performed
in a relative short time. Therefore, it was suggested that the
GC-MS method was equally applicable. Besides, the proposed
method can be applicable in routine quality control and clinical
laboratories.
