This chemical is a clear liquid, colourless to slightly yellow and should be stored in sealed containers in cool, dry place and away from oxidizing agents, blowing agents, metal powders, flammable, combustible, alkali and light.

Preparation of Hydriodic acid: It is prepared by reaction of iodine with red phosphorus. The iodine and red phosphorus are slowly added to the reactor under stirring. Collect filtrate at 125~130 °C after filtration and distillation. Add distilled water to get content qualified reagents.

Uses of Hydriodic acid: It is used as analytical reagents, reducing agents and also for the preparation of iodide. What's more, it's used as reducing agent to restore alkenyl silicon ether and split ether. This chemical can be used as reagents in determination of selenium, methoxy, ethoxy and solvents of certain substances.
