The systematic name of Dextran 70 is Dextran. With the CAS registry number 9004-54-0, it is also named as Low molecular dextran-L. The product's categories are Dextrins, Sugar & Carbohydrates; Carbohydrates D-FAlphabetic; DA - DH Biochemicals and Reagents; Biostabilization Agents Carbohydrates; Biostabilization Agents Biochemicals and Reagents; Carbohydrates A to; Carbohydrates D-FBiochemicals and Reagents; DA - DH Polymer Standards; Alphabetic; D; Dextran etc., and the other registry numbers are 11104-36-2; 11121-03-2; 12626-85-6; 128635-03-0; 37224-17-2; 60454-72-0; 86280-85-5; 9013-80-3; 9044-66-0; 911319-01-2. Besides, it is white crystals or powder, which should be stored in closed, cool and dry place at 2-8 °C. It is stable, and incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. In addition, its molecular formula is [C6H10O5]n.
Preparation and Uses of Dextran 70: this chemical can be prepared by microbial fermentation of Leyconostoc meseteroides. What's more, this chemical is used as an antithrombotic (anti-platelet), to reduce blood viscosity, and as a volume expander in anemia. it is also used in some eye drops as a lubricant, and in certain intravenous fluids to solubilise other factors, e.g. iron. Furthermore, it is in bead form used to aid in bioreactor applications. And it can be used to protect metal nanoparticles from oxidation and improve biocompatibility as a stabilising coating. Additionally, it can be used for industrial cell culture to make microcarriers.
When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following: it is harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. You should avoid contact with skin and eyes. It is also irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. In case of contact with eyes, please rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. And you should wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.
