New types of reagents, bis (2,4,6-trihalophenoxy)trichlorophosphoranes, were very effective as condensing agents for internucleotidic bond formation in the phosphotriester method. The 31P NMR study showed that the condensation proceeded via phosphorochloridate intermediates.
