  • High temperature oxidation of acetaldehyde

  • Add time:08/01/2019    Source:sciencedirect.com

The gas phase kinetics of the first stage of acetaldehyde oxidation were studied from 1030°K to 1115°K in a turbulent flow reactor which permits accurate determination of the spatial distribution of stable species. Experiments were performed in nitrogen at atmospheric pressure containing 0.1–0.75% acetaldehyde and 0.16–8% oxygen. The major and minor products measured were H2, CO, CH4, C2H6 and CO2, C2H4, H2CO respectively. C2H2, C3H6, C2H5CHO, and (CH3)2CO were found in trace quantities (<10 ppm). To explain the results, a scheme of 25 reactions is proposed. This sequence includes CH3+HO2→CH3O+OH (39) to account for methyl radical oxidation. A steady-state analysis of this reaction scheme showed that the rate of this reaction is proportional to [CH3][O2]n (where 0.2
