Czochralski crystal growth of LANTHANUM OXYSULFIDE (cas 12031-43-5)

Neodymium-activated lanthanum oxysulfide (LOS:Nd) has recently received interest as a new laser material. Good quality single crystals of this material have been grown by the Czochralski method. Since LOS decomposes when melted, melt departure from stoichiometry was studied. Equipment and growth parameters used in this work are described.
