The aim of this work was to develop and optimize the method for geopolymeric materials preparation, which can be potentially used as membranes in gas or liquids separation processes. The used method involved hydrothermal growth of zeolite layers on geopolymeric support – the compatibility of spatial structure of supports with zeolite should encourage the formation of layers consistent with the supports (partial recrystallization of the support is also observed). Geopolymeric support was obtained by alkali-activation of metakaolinite and zeolite membranes were synthesized by crystallization of a zeolite layer during the hydrothermal treatment. It is possible to obtain hybrid material with phase composition and microstructure promising for potential use in gas or liquid separation processes.
