  • Green Synthesis and Characterization of Multifunctional Zinc Oxide Nanomaterials using Extract of Moringa Oleifera Seed

  • Add time:07/28/2019    Source:sciencedirect.com

Zinc oxide is highly attractive multifunctional material with its unique properties such as antifungal, antibacterial, semiconducting, UV filtering and piezo electric properties. Being nontoxic, bio safe, biocompatible material, it is used in extensive applications in biomedical, high performance nanosensors, solar cells, cosmetics as UV absorber, light-emitting diodes and piezoelectric nanogenerators.Current study focuses on the biosynthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles by a simple, fast, cost effective and eco-friendly method using Moringa oleifera seeds extract. The synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles were characterized using UV–visible absorption spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. A SEM result shows the nanoparticles synthesized are spherical shape and are considerable number of agglomerates.XRD analysis confirms the wurtzite hexagonal structure of zinc oxide nanomaterials. UV–Vis absorption spectra exhibit the sharp characteristic absorption peak of zinc oxide nanomaterials.FT-IR confirmed the presence of multifunctional zinc oxide nanomaterials and phyto-chemical constituents of Moringa oleifera seed extract.
