DL-lysine hydrochloride crystals were studied by Raman spectroscopy under hydrostatic pressure using a diamond anvil cell from ambient pressure up to 9.8 GPa in the spectral range from 1150 to 40 cm−1. Changes in the Raman spectrum were observed in all spectral regions analyzed. In particular, modifications in the lattice modes indicate that the crystal undergoes a phase transition. The classification of the vibrational modes, the behavior of their band wavenumber as a function of the pressure and the reversibility of the phase transitions are also discussed.
