The synthesized pure MgWO4 phosphor has wolframite structure with pure monoclinic phase and the cerium doped MgWO4 phosphor has a secondary phase [WO6]6− with the formation of Ce2WO4 on sintered at 1000 °C for 4 h. FESEM shows that the grain sizes are in the range of 1–4 μm and also deformation of rod like morphology as on doping with cerium. Photoluminescence studies shows blue emission spectrum at 470 nm for pure, 1%, 3% and 5% of Cerium doped MgWO4 phosphor and its intensity is maximum for 3% of cerium doped MgWO4 phosphor.
