The synthesis and characterization, chiefly as salts of the anions [X(ONO2)2]− (X = H+ or Ag+) (by analysis, X-ray powder photography, vibrational spectra and thermogravimetry) of adducts of the nitrates trans-[M(L)4X2](NO3) (M =Rh or Ir; L = pyridine, perdeuteriopyridine or 4-methylpyridine; X = Cl or Br) with hydrogen nitrate and silver nitrate are described.
