The complexes UBr4 · xL (x = 2, L ≡ CH3CON(cyclo-C6H11)2, CH3-CON(C6H5)2 (dpha), C2H5CON(CH3)2 (dmpa), C2H5CON(C2H5)2 (depa), C2H5CON(i-C3H7)2, (CH3)2CHCON(i-C′3H7)2 and (CH3)3CCON(i-C3H7)2; x = 2.33, L ≡ dmpa; x = 2.5, L ≡ dpha; x = 3, L ≡ depa) have been prepared. The IR and near IR-visible spectra of the complexes are reported and their stoichiometries are discussed in terms of the steric crowding about the metal atom.
