1.1. A lipo-amino acid, N-palmitoyl-l-serine, has been synthesized and purified by methods designed to avoid degradation reactions. The compound is structurally similar to other amino acid derivatives extracted from biological systems during the transport of amino acids2.2. NPS easily forms hydrogen bonds, as shown by the displaced frequencies in infrared spectra. The contribution of this bond towards membrane reactions is discussed.
