The paper presents the comparative adsorption ability of precipitated barium sulphate and dicalcium phosphate for ferri/ferrous impurities found in commercial grade sodium sulphide. The author had carried out experiments on the usage of precipitated barium sulphate and dicalcium phosphate as an adsorbent in different proportions (separately) in the aqueous solution of commercial grade sodium sulphide. Results show that incorporation of precipitated barium sulphate and dicalcium phosphate (as small as 1%) was sufficient to reduce the iron content from 1.50 mg to 0.10 mg, and 0.30 mg respectively. Thus under similar conditions the efficiency of adsorption of iron contents in commercial grade sodium sulphide by precipitated barium sulphate is more than dicalcium phosphate. This can be quite valuable for barium industries
