Chapter Three - Recent Developments in the Chemistry of 1,2,3-Thiadiazoles

The chapter is focused on the synthesis of 1,2,3-thiadiazoles including Hurd–Mori reaction, Wolff approach, and oxidative cyclization of hydrazones bearing thioamide group. It also contains data on the synthesis of fused 1,2,3-thiadiazoles and those linearly connected to other heterocycles. Moreover, a short overview of biological properties is given in a separate section. The data on the chemical properties are limited in the current review to ring-cleavage reactions and rearrangements of 1,2,3-thiadiazoles to other heterocyclic compounds. An analysis of 1,2,3-thiadiazole chemistry for the period 2003–17 is presented. Materials covered in earlier periods are included when they are appropriate for discussions.
