Conventional ion implantation has been shown to modify the surface properties of polymers such as their hardness, conductivity, and biocompatibility. In this study, POLY(BISPHENOL A CARBONATE) (cas 111211-39-3) (PC) films were implanted by Ar+ ions with an energy level of 100 keV in order to improve their biocompatibility. The results of the surface analyses revealed an increasing intensity of the functional groups on the ion implanted PC surfaces such as OH, CO, and CO after implantation, which contributed to an improvement of their hydrophilicity. The in vitro cell culture test revealed that the HaCaT cells were selectively adhered to the ion implanted regions of the PC.
