A gas chromatographic procedure has been developed for the determination of DIENESTROL (cas 13029-44-2) in the presence of methyltestosterone. Dienestrol was extracted from tablets and quantitatively determined by gas chromatography of its bis-(trimethylsilyl)ether. The bis-(trimethylsilyl)ether of alizarin was used as an internal standard. Preliminary experiments indicate that the method is applicable in the presence of other androgens and corticosteroids.
