Groups of 15 rats of each sex were given daily doses of 0, 10, 100 or 1000 mg isobutyl isobutyrate/kg by stomach tube for 18wk. The treatment had no significant effects on body-weight gain, food and water intake, haematological findings, serum and urine analyses, organ weights or histopathology. The no-untoward-effect level in this study was at least 1000mg/kg/day.
